The annual cycle of Jewish holidays begins with the Days of Awe, a ten day period beginning with the celebration of Rosh Hashana.. We observe Rosh Hashana on the first day of the Hebrew month of Tishrei. Dipping apples in honey is symbolic of having a sweet new year. Honey is also spread over challah or used in cooking other holiday foods. During this season, it is customary to send New Years cards to family and friends. YUSSEL’S PLACE carries a wide selection of boxed/packaged and individual cards. You may also order personalized cards which are discounted 20% (plus shipping). The shofar (ram’s horn) is blown during the Rosh Hashana service. It is designed to stir the heart to repent. YUSSEL’S PLACE has a wide array of shofars for the novice to the expert. With every purchase we offer a complimentary shofar blowing lesson. Check your prayerbook for blessings required.
